I am invited to a bridal shower and I am not close with the bride to be. In fact, I was shocked to be invited because I am not close to the family. Since I am not close to the family, I actually can't imagine being invited to the wedding. I think the girls hosting the party just want to invite as many people as possible. The big question, can I decline the invitation?

Thank you for sharing your feelings. Your post clearly describes the frustration level of guests and hopefully your post will help others planning these optional parties.

You can politely decline both the shower and the wedding if you feel so inclined. You are not obligated to send a gift if you don't attend the shower.
