Invite out of towners to shower?

I am having a destination wedding in May with a shower in April. Most of my fiance's family is from out of state, and some of mine as well. Do the out of state guests(some of which are close family members,(aunts,cousins,etc...) get invites to our shower which is being thrown for both of us? I'd like to include them, but don't want to look like I'm asking for gifts. What is the most appropriate way to handle this manner?

Only those invited to the wedding ceremony are invited to the bridal shower.

The whole purpose of having a bridal shower is to shower the bride with gifts so everyone you invite to this event wil be bringing a gift. This is why it is usally only clode friends and family members who are invited.
