Is it ok to host Bridal shower 9 months after baby shower?
My sister in law had a baby in January. Her family hosted a huge baby shower (80 guests) for her in December.
They are now planning a September wedding. Should we still throw her a bridal shower?
thx.

Dear Wunderwuman,
The shower with 80 guests was not proper and many would view it as offensive. It just reeks of greed when that many people are invited to give someone gifts. The only exception is the wedding, but gifts are not on view.
There is no etiquette law against this, but common sense should prevail. Family never hosts and I really doubt guests would want to be invited to yet another gift giving event after just giving. Many just may find this double gift grabbing. They already have to give a wedding gift.

Thank you for the reply.
If there is going to be a bridal shower, it would be hosted by the MOH, not family.

I'd like to answer your question with a (rhetorical) question of my own. Of course, this could make me sound like some old fuddy duddy, but, I'll take the risk. Why are we rewarding this behavior? The couple got pregnant and, kudos for them, they decided to get married and make it legal. Good for them and good for baby. But, is this the example we want to hold out there as appropriate? Where has the responsibility gone? This entitled generation gets to do whatever they please and there seems to be no responsibility. So, have the wedding - great. Leave it at that.
