I'm hosting a bridal shower and have planned on a specific amount of guests. I have purchased some really cute favors and decorations for this event and I'm really excited about it, however I have begun to receive RSVPs and people are bringing other people with them that aren't included in my guest count. These are not people who are close to the bride and I'm frustrated because I'm worried that there won't be enough favors, etc. to go around if people come that weren't invited. Is there a polite way to respond when people mention that they are coming and so are two others that weren't included to begin with?

It is unfortunate that these people don't understand how to respond to an invitation. So, when people ask us why etiquette is important, this is one of the many good reasons. Luckily, we have people like you who are savvy and sweet. Thank you.
A bridal shower is supposed to be a small gathering of only those close to the couple.
You'll just have to say that you're sorry, but your venue or budget cannot allow for additional guests other than those specifically invited.
Good luck. Top Wedding Questions Forum Moderator - "Write your sorrows in the sand, your blessings in stone".

I completely agree. It is unfortunate, but sometimes we have to teach others how to be good guests. Rebecca Black, Etiquette Now
