Out of state bride--shipping shower gifts?

Hi!

My best friend is living and getting married in Phoenix in December, but since she's from Michigan (as is her family and bridal party), she'll be holding a shower in Michigan over Thanksgiving.

Those of us planning the wedding shower are having a difficult time determining the etiquette for gift-giving. She won't really be able to take blenders, etc., home with her on the plane, but we doesn't necessarily want the guests to be required to ship their gifts across the country either!

Any thoughts on how to word that information on the invitations with the gift registry??

Thanks a million :)

Since it is not proper to tell guests what gift to bring, the bride will have to arrange to have any gifts she cannot physically take back with her shipped back home. If this isn't possible then consider a giftless shower or not hosting the shower. It is an optional event.
