     Place Cards?

My mom is hosting a shower for me at a restaurant for about 40 guests. The restaurant owner has told her not to use any sort of place or seating cards. However, I think that she should because I feel it would be more organized. This is not an 'formal' shower, but a meal will be served. What is a good way of seating people, without using table numbers?

Shirley -

Your mom really shouldn't be hosting a wedding shower for you unless she is a member of the wedding party. But, if she insists on hosting, you really don't need to have anything to do with the planning. Allow the host to plan as she sees fit. The shower should be a small gathering of your nearest and dearest, and fairly informal, so there should be no need for seating arrangements. I would think the restaurant manager has some experience with party planning and defer to his/her judgment. Besides, I bet you have a lot of other planning to do. Smile
