Pregnant Bride: Bridal or baby shower or both?

I'm the MOB. My daughter is pregnant and will be married in January. She is due around April 14. Is it proper to give her a bridal shower then a baby shower a few months later? I was thinking if I gave the baby shower near to her due date it woul be ok. Thands for your advise in advance.

Dear Barb,

It isn't proper for the mother of the bride to be involved with any of the showers, as it could appear to be self-serving. Plus, I have heard from so many guests to multiple showers (bridal and baby--back to back) stating that they do not feel very positive about it. I don't feel comfortable saying exactly what most of them tell me--too negative. Shocked

Additionally, many are opting for the gift-less bridal shower because the modern bride usually doesn't need the 'extra' help setting up her household. Most of us don't even live this way anymore.

Best wishes,
