     Receiving wedding gifts at home

If someone sends a gift off of our registry to our home, but they are still planning on coming to the shower, do we bring the gift to the shower to open? We have received several boxes at our home from people who are coming to the shower next week. Open at home or open at the shower?

Dear Hal,

Usually, the gift sent to your home is for your wedding, not the shower. So, the gift wouldn't be brought to the shower. However, if you believe that the gift is for the shower, you may want to bring it to the shower to open.

This is just another reason why so many are opting for the gift-less shower. Guests are confused and so is the couple. I receive many questions from guests asking if they give a gift for the shower if they are still obligated to give a wedding gift.

Best wishes,
