Should out of town guests be invited to shower

Should out of town guests (more than 300 miles) be invited to a bridal shower when it's obvious they will not be able to attend (they are also being invited to the wedding)?

Dear Juni,

Only those very close to the couple should be invited. This includes those from out of town. You just never know if they want to be invited. They will then have the choice of attending or no.

Best wishes,
