     Shower gift

Hi,

I have been invited to a a bridal shower that is schedueled for a week before a wedding of another friend where I am a bridesmaid. With all the costs leading up to being in that wedding, I can not afford to buy a gift to go to the shower for the other wedding. I am however, planning on going to the wedding which is only in August, to which I plan on bringing a monetary gift for the bride and groom. Should I still be sending a gift for the shower since I was invited but am not attending?

No, if you're not attending you're not obligated to send a gift. However, shower gifts can be very inexpensive. Maybe consider picking up "a little something" as a token of your esteem. But, again, there is no obligation.
