Shower invitation included with wedding invitation
Hello,
I just received a wedding invitation with a blanket invitation (everyone who is invited to the wedding is invited to the shower) stuck in front of the actual invitation envelope. No RSVP is requested to the shower, however, the wedding RSVP is typical. Am I expected to send a shower gift as well as a wedding gift since these are two different functions? I personally would like to act like the shower invite never occurred.

Dear Ssjs,
I feel the same. Let's just pretend they didn't include this, as it is... I'm really trying not to use the word "disgusting". Oops, I used it.
We shouldn't mention anyting about gifts in a wedding invitation and unfortunately some are still hosting gifting showers, so this is basically reminding you to give them a gift. Of course it worked, huh. Plus, the couple and their parents shouldn't have anything to do with a shower--hosting or planning. Futhermore, this should be a small intimate event. All wedding guests are invited to a shower?? Crazy.
You are not obligated to send any type of gift unless you are planning on attending the wedding. Then you would send a wedding gift. May I suggest an etiquette book.
