I had a shower and received a whole bunch of gifts from a group of people. I'm going to send a handwritten thank you note to each person who contributed, but how do I refer to all the gifts in the note? It doesn't seem right to say "thank you for..." and then list all the different gifts (about 12-15 of them), but it also seems tacky just to say a generic "thank you for all the gifts."
I was taught that you were supposed to say thank you for the specific gift you received and how you plan to use it, but that just doesn't seem possible when you received a multitude of gifts.

Dear Trg,
Great point. Yes, creating a laundry list of items in your note may seem silly. So, perhaps you could group them together like, "I am overwhelmed by your generosity. John and I will be thinking of you every time we use one of these wonderful gifts. Each will make XXX so much more pleasurable."
