Thank you notes from shower guests to hostess?

Is it proper or necessary for shower guests to send thank you notes to the hostess/ and/or bridesmaids for inviting them to the shower? I have never heard of this. Of course I know that the bride certainly owes them her thanks and perhaps flowers to show her appreciation but I had not heard the same for the ladies who came to the shower. Thank you for your comments.

No, you can say thank you as you leave but you do not need to send a thank you note.
