The time of a couples shower

My husband and I have been asked to host a couples shower for my brother and his fiancee. It is being held at another person's home and the bridal couple wants the shower to be from 6 - 8 pm because they want to go out with friends afterwards. The friends would be those couples at the party who wish to go dancing, not a different set of people. However, those who don't want to to go out would leave for their homes at 8. I feel that this is in poor taste because it appears that the shower is simply a gift stop over before they go out to really party. My husband feels that if it is set for two hours then it is rude to hang around any longer than 8 and the couple has fulfilled their obligation to the hosting couples. I am afraid my perspective is going to cause hard feelings. Thanks, Big Sis

You're right, this shower would be in poor taste because it is considered improper for family members to host a bridal shower for the couple unless you are a member of the bridal party.
