We are having a small family destination wedding and a reception for everyone else a couple months later. When it comes to the wedding shower is in innapropriate to invite people who are not invited to the actual ceremony but only to the reception? Thanks!

Dear Who to Invite,
This is one of the events we lose when we have a destination wedding. Only those invited to the wedding are invited to the bridal shower. This is because the wedding is supposed to be what everyone is excited about and wants to celebrate. This is also what your guests are supposed to give wedding gifts for--the wedding, not the reception.
Most people don't know this, so you will probably still receive wedding gifts for your reception.
