     arriving at the shower

I am having a bridal shower thrown for me this weekend at my soon to be mother-in-laws home. My family is in another city so most of the guests are my fiance's family and his mother's friends. Is is impolite to be about 5-10 minutes late or should I get there early?

Dear Brownjl,

It is unfortunate, but this is an inappropriate shower. You don't have anything to do with it. But, she shouldn't host and her friends shouldn't be invited. The guests should be close to you. Hopefully all are invited to the wedding.

Please arrive a bit early.

Best wishes,
