sending thank you notes for bridal shower gifts - groom died 2 weeks after shower
My niece was to get married in Oct., her shower was two weeks ago. Two days ago her husband to be died suddenly (age 25). Is it improper not to send out Thank You notes under this sad situation? She is in shock of the death and having to cancel all the wedding arrangements, her mother is unsure how to handle. Any comments welcome.

I am so sorry to hear about your niece's tragedy.
I think everyone would understand how she is feeling and won't be expecting any notes. However, at some point, someone close to the family should pack up the gifts and return them to the guests. The same would go for any wedding gifts received.
My husband died 2 years after we were married and I feel your pain. It's great that she has support from her family right now. I hope time is healing for her. Please let us know if you have any other questions. God bless all of you. Top Wedding Questions Forum Moderator - "Write your sorrows in the sand, your blessings in stone".

I agree and do sympathize. But, all gift will need to be returned. Rebecca Black, Etiquette Now
