     shower but no wedding?

I am getting married next year but my fiance and I have decided to forego a wedding. Because we are already living together and are in our early thirties we believe our money could be better invested.

My sister recently had a wedding and a shower. She has asked me if I want to have a shower and seems to think I should. I don't know how I feel about it. It feels a little too close to gift grabbing to me.

Is it appropriate to have a shower if you are not having a wedding?

Dear Shower,

You have good instincts. No it is not appropriate. Only those invited to a wedding should be invited to the shower.

Best wishes,
