     shower for a destination wedding

I am the mom of the groom for a destination wedding. The grooms grandmother's (my mom in law) close friend would like to have a shower for the bride for grandma's close friends. My Mom thinks it is wrong. What should I do?

Dear Cmmj,

This shouldn't be held by a friend of the family unless this is also a person very close to the couple. Guests shouldn't be friends of the family unless they are close to the couple. And, only those invited to the wedding may be invited to the shower. So most likely your mother is correct. It should not be held.

It would be best to speak to your son about this and as a couple they may refuse the offer.

Best wishes,
