     shower for destination wedding

Please give me thoughts about the appropriateness of having a shower for someone who is having a destination wedding. There will be a very small # of guests at the actual wedding. There will be >100 at a post-wedding party. Normally people who aren't invited to the wedding/reception are not invited to showers, but in this case they are invited to the reception only.

Hello Purple,

Yes, you are correct. Those invited to the shower are only those invited to the wedding. Sorry.

I would say that it is ok to have the shower as long as 1) the guests are all invited to the reception and 2) the guests are aware that they will not be invited to the wedding. Perhaps you could put some wording into the invitation such as, "this is our last opportunity to celebrate with Sally before she and John fly off to their wedding in Italy." This would allow your guests to decide whether they want to attend the shower under these circumstances.
