How long does the bride-to-be have to send thank you notes for a shower? What is considered proper etiquette?

It is proper to send a thank you note to everyone who has given a gift, even when the thank you's were done at the shower. These thank you notes should be sent as soon as possible, preferably within 2 or 3 weeks after the shower.
