     wedding shower group gift

Several group gift wedding showers are being given for our daughter. The hosts want to know whether it is best to list a donation amount on the invitation or leave it blank. In the past, the invitation listed something like: group gift $10 per person/$20 per couple. What is appropriate?

Dear Wedding Shower,

It is never polite to ask for money or to list an appropriate amount--even when it has been done in the past. It is considered presumptuous.

Best wishes,
