My daughter's wedding shower is going to be at my very good friends lake home. We will be outside, and I am looking for menu suggestions. Tea sandwiches do not seem to appeal to me. Guests (probably 30-50) will be traveling an hour or more to arrive. It will be on a Saturday, I'm thinking of serving lunch and desert. HELP!

Re: Menu for wedding shower at a lake

Dear Jrepp,
I'm not a planner so I can only advise on the appropriateness of the menu. The food and beverages should reflect what the guest expects during the time of the event. So, if you want to serve a lunch, the event should be held during a time guests would expect to be fed lunch.
Oops!! I missed the fact that this is a question about a shower and not a wedding. Mothers do not host their daughter's bridal showers, which is probably why I thought I read wedding and not "shower". Also, we don't invite more than 35 guests (still a large number) to a shower, which is another reason (the biggest) why mothers don't host showers. They tend to go over-board trying to garner the most gifts possible for their daughters--only human nature.
