     cake for shower

I am a bridesmaid in an upcoming wedding. The bridesmaid who is in charge of getting the cake wants to get a cake that matches the wedding colors, but it will not match our shower decorations. Is this ok?

It's not the end of the world but why can't she go with the color theme of the shower? I don't know what colors you are using and will there be a clash with the different colors?

We are decorating for the shower with pastels and have a tea party theme, but the wedding colors are red and black. The idea that the bridesmaid had for the cake was black writing with red rose petals since we are carrying red roses in the wedding. I wanted to avoid a conflict, but am unsure if the cake is going to be really out of sync with the rest of the shower.

Dear Black Cake,

Your cake doesn't have to be a part of the wedding theme. Guests are attending to feel as if they are a part of the planning process. So, it isn't that important.

Red and black don't really flow with the tea party theme.

Best wishes,
