I am a Bridesmaid for my friends wedding. We want to give her a Bridal shower but don't want to go traditional. Any ideas? Even if it is a bit Risque... We are running out of options, so any fresh ideas will be most welcome!

Bridesmaid2: A mini trip for the Bride and bridal party, or a low-key themed get together may be your answer. The Bride and her party could check into a resort or hotel with spa-like environment for the weekend to enjoy a girls getaway, pre-wedding pampering, and all the change of scenery has to offer. Something just as memorable, but nearby, would be a themed party for all to enjoy. Select an era (i.e., Roaring 20s or the 1940s) or a culture (i.e., India or Asia) and proceed accordingly. Have the hosts wear attire true to the period or culture, and ask guests to do the same. Decorations should be reflective of the same, and the cuisine authentic. Mind you, I am not speaking of a costume party, but simply a break from the traditional to enjoy a different time, a different place, and to celebrate the couple in a unique way. If you do opt for the culture aspect, World Market and Pier I are excellent places to locate decor reasonably. Good luck!

Have you checked over the idea with the bride? Some brides don't like anything risque at all. Since the shower is for her, you should really find out if she will like it or be angry with you.
You could have a lingerie shower. Again though, find out if that is ok with the bride (Personally, I'd be livid if my bridesmaids did something like that for me. How embarassing). Fellow Bride

How about a "Naughty and Nice" theme? Guests bring a nice gift (like a traditional gift) and also a naughty gift (like lingere). You can aslo ask the guests not to wrap the naughty gift, then put them all in a pillowcase, tie it with a ribbon and play a guessing game where guests can feel the pillowcase and try to guess 10 items inside.
Just remember to find out from the bride if she (and her guests) are ok with a shower that is a bit naughty. I planned this shower for my sister-in-law who loved the idea, but the theme got changed after we found out the guests were not comfortable with it. (Grandmothers and Great-aunts)

Yes Heather...naughty is in the eyes of the beholder...on wait, that's beauty isn't it?
