Throwing a Shower without the Bride attending

I live in Colorado, my family lives in Michigan, and I am getting married in Mexico. There will not be the option of being in the same state as my relatives before the wedding takes place. Because they can't come to Colorado, and I won't be able to get to Michigan before the event, my mother is puzzled about how to throw me a "michigan shower". This is something she really wants to do for me, and we know that my extended family and friends from my home state would definitely want a chance to send a shower gift. Do you have any ideas on how to have a shower if the bride can't get into town to attend? I know it sounds strange, but with today's new trends, I thought maybe someone could help us brainstorm a way to handle this. Thank you.
