Trying to plan wine tasting bridal shower - ideas?

Hello, I am looking to plan a bridal shower for my neice. I like the wine tasting idea but I haven't figured out hoe to incorporate the wine tasting into the bridal shower. Also, we are not looking to receive wine related gifts. Any ideas? Thanks for any help. Angel

Dear Angel,

Close family members shouldn't host the bridal shower. It is viewed as self serving. So, it would be best for a friend or one of the attendants host it.

Best wishes,

I guess I should have mentioned that I am the maid of honor and that is why I am planning the shower. I am looking for any ideas of how to incorporate the wine tasting theme into the bridal shower. I am thinking maybe different wine stations and something to do with the bride at each one. If anyone can fill in the blanks with something brilliant I would be so greatful. Thanks again.

Well, that changes everything. It's wonderful that you know your etiquette. Great.

Wine tasting is one of me great loves, but I've never incorporated it into a party such as this. But, one of the games I played recently was that the bride had to figure out which guest had made what statement about her. (We all had to write down a memory of her from our past) Another was that she had to guess what her fiance had answered when asked certain questions. (He had been interviewed beforehand) . These activities could be played out at different stations. Maybe.

But, it would be nice to have a wine related activity. This wouldn't have anything to do with the bride. However, the guests could have to decide what varietal a few wines are during a blind tasting. You could list five or six varietals and have them decide which wines were which. This could be fun, but wouldn't necessarily involve the bride.

I hope that will give you some ideas. I'm definitely not the expert in this area.

As for not wanting wine related gifts, most guests will check the bride's registry. So, she should be receiving gifts from that list. Let's hope.

Best wishes,

Thank you Rebecca. I like your ideas. I really like the idea of asking her questions that we have asked the groom. That seems like it would be a lot of fun. I think I will try that. I appreciate your help. Thanks again.

Any time. I'm so glad that I could help. Games are definitely not my area :)
