     Beach wedding reception alternatives

I am planning a beach wedding in August. Half of our guests will be traveling between 6 -10 hours one way to get there. (30 people). I'd like to have a morning wedding and afternoon/ evening to spend at the beach, maybe organize games or sand castle building lessons as a group instead of reception/dance. I want the people coming in for the weekend to get to enjoy the beach and If they have to leave in the morning I don’t want to take the whole day with wedding stuff, or at least make the wedding stuff fun and relaxed so they can enjoy the afternoon and have the evening to do as they please.

Is this a good idea? If so, do you have any suggestions for activities for a group 50-100 people?

Dear Lindzi,

The type of reception you plan is your choice. If you choose to host a beach activity reception, fine. But, you would have to ensure that your guests don't have to open their wallets during this time. They should be treated with some sort of refreshments as well. And, please don't make them wait too long after the wedding for the reception/games/lessons.

Best wishes,

Great answer Rebecca. As long as you keep in mind the meaning of "guest", your activities should accomplish your goal.
