Destination Wedding - invite guest to only the ceremony?

Hello All,

My fiancee and I are having a bit of a disagreement on a certain subject. We are planning on having our wedding at Disney World and so far the preliminary guest list contains about 300 guests. He mentioned how we can invite people to the ceremony but not the reception. I said that since it is a destination wedding it is rude to only invite people to the ceremony.

Basically - is it ok to invite guests to only the ceremony for a destination wedding?

Thanks,
Kelley

Dear KelleyJump,

It is always impolite to invite guests to the wedding and not the reception. The wedding is a gift giving event and the reception is not. So, in essence you would be telling your guests that you want their gifts, but they are not good enough to celebrate and be thanked for their attendance with the party.

Best wishes,
