Destination Wedding AND Reception in the USA

My fiance and I are having our wedding in Mexico in December 2007. Due to the limited guest list, we are also having a "reception" at our house in April of '08. The bridal shower and bachelorette party will be held in Sept. I would like to invite some friends who are not invited to the wedding but are invited to the reception at our house, to the shower. What is appropriate here? Should we send the invites for the reception at our house BEFORE we send the final invites to the guests who are actually going to the wedding (they will be invited to the reception too). How do I ensure that those invited to the reception but not the wedding are aware that they are invited to a part of the wedding....I would really like them to attend the shower and bachelorette party?

Thank you

Unfortunately, only those invited to the wedding should be invited to pre-wedding parties.
