     Destination Wedding Shower

My daughter is getting married in Barbados in November. Is it proper to throw her a Bridal Shower here before the wedding? I feel the guests are spending enough to get to the island and should not be strapped with this added expepense, but she says "everyone gets a shower"! Please help!

Showers are all optional these days. However, someone other than a family member should offer to host the shower. Family members shouldn't host.

I completely agree. Plus, only wedding guests are invited to these, but not all of the guests. With a destination wedding, fewer wedding guests are usually invited. So, the host would have fewer guests to invite. All of the wedding guests shouldn't have to give two wedding gifts.
