     Destination wedding invitations?

We are getting married in Maui within a couple of months. We don't think many can attend with such a short notice but want to give some friends and family the opportunity to attend if they would like. Do we send formal invitations to let people know they are more than welcome to attend if they can make arrangements with such short notice? We do not want formal/expensive inviations.

Kim

Dear Kim,

If you send invitations, you are inviting and are considered host. So, even though a reception is optional, you would be expected to do something for your guests.

Formal invitations are not obligatory unless the wedding is formal. These could be verbal or informally written.

Best wishes,
