I am traveling from the U.S. to a destination wedding in Europe. The bride and groom are from London. Considering all of the currencies involved here, I am trying to figure out the proper gift. They've registered, but only at a London kitchen store and the dollar to pound conversion is not in my favor at the moment.
If I do resort to giving them cash, how much is kosher for a destination wedding? Do you have any recommendations about how I take the conversion rates into account? If I were to give them $150 pounds - that is equivalent to $300 american dollars. This is the first wedding I've brought a guest to, as well, is it customary to double the gift amount?
Thank you in advance for any advice you might provide.

There is no rule about giving cash for weddings, sorry. What one person thinks generous, another might think stingy. If you must give cash give what you can based on your budget and relationship with the couple. A gift sent to the home of the bride before the wedding is a much better choice.
