Etiquette for rooms, is this a destination wedding?
Both my fiancee and I live in Los Angeles. We are getting married in Santa Barbara, an hour and a half drive from Los Angeles. The majority of our wedding party lives in Los Angeles. Are we still obligated to pay for their rooms, since it is a "pseudo" "destination wedding"? What defines destination wedding? Should we pay only for those coming from out of state?

Dear Giulia,
You would pay for any attendant who must find lodging whether or not it is considered a destination wedding. The distance isn't too far. But, if your wedding is scheduled for the evening, it may be best to pay for one night's lodging. Your attendants probably won't be able to drive home after your wedding/reception if held late in the day.
It is usually the "rule" to pay for at least two nights' lodging for destination weddings.
