Finding out how many wedding guests in advance of sending invitations

My fiance and I are getting married in July at Disney World. We would like to send engagement announcements including our wedding palns. However, we are inviting people who may or may not attend. We would like to have an estimated head count as soon as possible for planning purposes. Can we request our guests let us know if they are interested in attending now? This way we have a better number for budget purposes.

Unfortunately, it's neither appropriate nor reliable to ask your guests to give you an idea of whether they're planning to attend or not. The fact that it's at a destination doesn't make that element any different from any other wedding (we'd all like to know when we start planning who will and who won't attend - it's just not practical).

You'll have to do what all couples do - establish your guest list and make a best guess and who is and is not likely to attend. Send your invitations out enough time that guests can make their accommodations arrangements and prepare a safe budget.

Good luck.

I completely agree. Plus your save the dates would be a better choice rather than engagement announcements. These really aren't viewed as positive as in the past. They are typically viewed as a plea for a gift.

RSVPs are not listed on save the date cards either.
