     Gifts expected for destination weddings

I am in a wedding this winter in Cuba that is costing my boyfriend and I each about $1500 CAD. The bride has also asked us to pay for our own dress, shoes, earrings, necklace...you get the idea...

Are guests at a destination wedding supposed to also offer a gift? Usually we give $200 cash but considering that I am going to be paying near $1800 for me out of my pocket I didn't know...

HELP!

Whenever you are asked to be a member of a bridal party you must remember that you will be expected to have expenses such as clothing and gifts. With destination weddings you do have the added travel expense but the bridal couple should be footing the bill for your hotel accommodations.

You are expected to send a gift to the home of the bride before the wedding. Choose a gift that suits your budget and reflects your relationship with the couple.
