     Gifts for the Wedding Couple

What is the proper etiquette for giving gifts as the aunt & uncle, brides maids and friends of the bride & groom? Is just showing up at the destination wedding a gift enough?

As you play so many important roles in the couple's lives, you should really plan to give a gift. You can scale back if you've already paid to travel to their wedding, But they will likely be expecting a gift, and you should give them something small.

Dear Payter,

Anyone who attends a wedding should ship a gift to the couple before the wedding. This is the polite thing to do. The attendees do have a choice in attending though. And, attending the destination wedding is not obligatory. It is costly.

Best wishes,
