Hello- Any advice would be appreciated from people with experience with destination weddings. My fiance and I have decided that we would like to get married in the Dominican Republic. We have decided to have the official marriage before we leave at the courthouse and the ceremony on the island. However, my parents are not pleased with the idea at all. We have explained to them that we love the island and due to financial constraints, this is the best option for us because we can have something nice and affordable. We only plan to invite our immediate families. However, my parents think we should have a small wedding at a church and have a small reception at a restaurant. My biggest concern with that is that how do you really limit the number of people who can attend? We both have large extended families and it's not that we wouldn't love to invite everyone, it's simply not affordable. Any advice would be appreciated!
Is it possible to invite the same immediate family and friends to a small ceremony and reception for those few then go to the Dominican Republic for your honeymoon? Nancy Tucker President of Weddings Beautiful US http://www.weddingsbeautiful.com
