How much parents should spend on wedding gift for destination wedding

CrazyHi, we have 2 children who were married locally in our state and we gave them a cash gift, the same amount. Our 3rd child has decided to get married in Mexico which is going to cost a minimum of $3,000 to get there and stay. What is the etiquette for a gift, the same amount because they are our children, unfotunately we have a 4th child starting college, 2 family weddings and 2 college graduations in the same year.

Please help!

Dear Rafable,

Typically we would give to our children equally or they could feel as if there is preferential treatment. But, you could simply tell them that you only have a only certain amount of money to spend and their destination wedding costs more to attend than the other two. There really is no right answer here.

Best wishes,
