Good day! I am newly engaged and planning a destination wedding in Jamaica for April or May of 08. What is the next step? Can I efficiently make these arrangements without a wedding planner here in the states (I know they offer them at the resorts in Jamaica)? After telling about 30-40 people about 19 couples would like to attend the wedding. Do I send out announcements first and then invites later? When should I send those out? When is the proper time frame to have an official date set?

You first need to set a date, then send out "save the date" at least 6 months before the wedding and then 8-10 weeks prior to the wedding send out invitations. You can hire a wedding planner here in the states, however, unless they are a destination specialist, you most likely will do better with the planner at the resort.
