Ideas for th - something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue

Hi, I am being a bridesmaid for my boyfriends sister and we are travelling from England to St Lucia. I'd like to give her the traditional something old, new, borrowed blue gifts and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what I could get. Is it the bridesmaid duty to get her all of these ( I am the only bridesmaid) or would her mother or mother in law - to - be, be getting her some or all of these items? I don't want to step on anyone's toes.

Hello Something Old,

No it is not the bridesmaid's duty to provide the traditional something old, new and blue. However, many times the mother of the bride will provide the old with items such as the grandmother's gloves, hankie, etc. New is normally a part of the bridal attire and could also be the ring and in most cases brides will wear a blue garter. If this is something you'd really like to do, talk to the bride's family to see if anyone is providing this for her and go ahead accordingly.
