I have read the posts regarding announcements for elopements and destination weddings to which no guests are invited; that is, to send the announcement AFTER the wedding.
However, my fiance and I are going to be married on a cruise ship in 5 weeks, on a ship which has a webcam which will broadcast our wedding on the internet. A lot of my friends and professional contacts have expressed an interest in "attending" in this fashion, and I would like to send an announcement "inviting" them.
Would it be inappropriate to send out such an announcement prior to the wedding? I would want the wording to communicate that we do not expect actual attendance, but are taking the occasion to advise them of the event in order that they may make plans to watch.
What you are suggesting would be an invitation so, yes, send an invitation to those friends and family you'd like to invite to watch your webcast. The wording could be informal. Top Wedding Questions Forum Moderator - "Write your sorrows in the sand, your blessings in stone".
