     Invitation Etiquette - "And Guest"

When addressing invitations to guests of a destination wedding, what is the proper etiquette for inviting friends? More to the point, should “and guest” be on all invitations, even when a guest-couple is not married or engaged?

I realize adding “and guest” ups the overall cost, but assume money/cost is irrelevant.

My understanding is that it is proper to let a guest bring their significant other (again, not married or engaged) since it is a destination wedding AND a vacation too – or is this incorrect as well?

The etiquette is the same for a destination wedding. Significant others covers those engaged and/or living together/in a very long term relationship.
