     Invitations: Destination and Affirmation

My fiance and I are leaning towards going on a cruise and getting married at one of the ports. We want as many friends and family who can make it to be there. Obviously we know that some people will not be able to make it. We thought about having an affirmation of our vows in a religious ceremony at home afterwards and have a small get together with family only. My fiance and I are debating how we would go about the invitations. He thinks the guests will be confused by which wedding to attend, but for expense reasons, opt out of the cruise. Let's say we were to have the religious ceremony 6 months after the cruise marriage. How would you handle this? Would you send out two separate invitations, or one announcing both occasions?
