Is a bridal shower given for a destination wedding

Are bridal showers appropriate for a destination wedding. The wedding itself will be small and intimate, but we are planning on having a party when we get back.

Only those invoted to the wedding can be invited to the shower so, in this case, you would probably not get a shower since there would be very few guests, if any.
