Local legal or Mexico legal marriage licences and ceremony
We are getting married in Mexico next year but do not want to have a Mexican marriage license. The process is quite costly and time consuming and we are trying to keep things simple. We would like my fiance's brother to perform the ceremony. He is an ordained minister. If we obtain a US marriage license, have US witnesses and an ordained minister, does it legally matter where the ceremony happens -- does it have to be on US soil? I can't find any information on this anywhere.
I know we can do the legalities before or after the ceremony if we have to, but we are getting married on the same date my parents were married...and next year would have been their 50th wedding anniversary. (my Mom passed away 4 years ago.) I really want my anniversary to be the same day...not before or after.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Dear Michigan Bride,
This is a question your local county recorder or the agency you would get your marriage license from could answer for you. It could be different in each state.

I agree and I can almost guarantee you that a license issued would be have to be used in the county and state that issued it. That is how they are recorded. Nancy Tucker President of Weddings Beautiful US http://www.weddingsbeautiful.com
