Non-invitee attending the destination the same time as the destination wedding
A couple who are acquaintances of mine are having a destination wedding in Hawaii in a few months. A dozen of my friends who are closer than I am to the couple are invited. Would it be a breach of etiquette for someone not invited to the wedding to take a vacation to that same destination at that same time? This is almost certainly the only time such a large group of friends will be in Hawaii, and I'd like to go down at the same time. I wouldn't be crashing any wedding activities. I'd do things with my friends when they weren't doing wedding stuff. Is this proper, or would it be bad form?

Dear Vaughn,
There is nothing technically wrong with it, but it is in poor form. It could appear as if you are butting in on the couple's time with their guests. It would be different if you didn't know they were there. That isn't the case here.

I agree - and it could be embarrassing for you and the wedding couple if they bumped into you there. Top Wedding Questions Forum Moderator - "Write your sorrows in the sand, your blessings in stone".
