Number of guests/venue for destination wedding

We are planning to get married out of town and depending on the number of guests will determine the venue. Is there a proper way to find out if people think they may attend in advance, with possibly a save the date type of card? Thank you.

Dear Coll1971,

You have to set a limit as to how many you are willing to invite and go from there. The best way to do this would be through an email or word of mouth to get a count of those interested. Then, once you have your venue, you send the save the date with hotel information, etc. for those who may be planning to attend.
