     Pre-wedding parties for destination wedding!

We are having a destination wedding and are trying to keep it very small but our families want to invite all of there friends, etc. to something, we are thinking about having a pre-wedding party to invite everyone they want to come. Is this okay to do and can it be called something other than an engagement party?

Only those invited to the wedding (ceremony) can be invited to any pre-wedding parties.

Can you invite people to a shower that are not invited to the actual destination wedding, but that ARE going to be invited to the reception held back in the hometown?

Lastly, since the wedding is going to be family only, if the above question is appropriate, can the shower be given by family members that are not attendants (there are no attendants)

Only guests invited to the wedding should be invited to a shower.
