RSVP for reception at home after destination wedding

My fiance and I are having a destination wedding on the Outer Banks of North Carolina in August. We are inviting 20-25 guests to the actual ceremony. We are holding a garden side reception outdoors upon our return to New York in September. Would I send out separate invitations to guests invited to both the wedding in NC and the reception in NY for both the ceremony and the subsequent reception, and how do I handle the RSVP cards? The guests who will be joining us in NC will be taken out to dinner after the ceremony on the beach. I didn't realize this would be so confusing!

Dear MelliAngel,

Yes, you would send two different invitations. You could mention the dinner on the wedding invitation if the dinner is directly after the wedding. There would be two different response cards because these are two different events.

Best wishes,
